VALENTINE'S DAY

VALENTINE'S DAY

Saint Valentine (Valentine or Valentine) is the protector of lovers, the mentally ill and those with epilepsy. Since the end of the 20th century, it has spread around the world as a "holiday of lovers". The Anglo-Saxon custom became known and popular as Valentine's Day in the 1990s, with the adoption of the English name. On this holiday, lovers give their love or honor them with a love message. The origin of the Christian custom is that in the 14th century, St. Valentine, Bishop of Terni (then known as Interamna), became the patron saint of brides and young couples in England and France. This is based on one of the widespread stories about the saint. According to this, before the Christian faith II. Executed in the time of Emperor Claudius, Balint restored the sight of the guard's daughter with the strength of his faith. Before he was, according to tradition, executed on February 14, he sent a farewell message to the girl, which he signed: "Your Valentine". This is the most common explanation for the origin of messages on Valentine's Day. According to legend, the bishop married couples according to Christian customs, including soldiers who were not allowed to marry according to the then royal orders. He gave the newlyweds flowers from his garden. Tradition holds that these marriages were born under a good star. According to the folk tradition, if the weather is cold and dry on Valentine's Day, the family will be good. Today, couples in love surprise each other with smaller gifts. These are usually flowers, chocolate, perfumes, etc. The relationship with the gift of flowers can be traced to the wife of the poet Samuel Pepis, Elizabeth Pepis, who in 1667 responded to her husband's love letter with a bouquet of flowers. Since then, the relationship between the letter and the bouquet of flowers has been imitated in the circles of the English aristocratic society and later spread all over the world. Today we are giving away not only our couple on Valentine's Day, but also their friends and colleagues.
